Story
I'm taking part in Beards of Hope in loving memory of our beautiful son, Matteo.
As some of you may not know, on 2 February 2026, our lives changed forever when our sweet boy was born sleeping at 17 weeks. Although his time with us was far too short, he will always be our son and will forever hold a special place in our hearts.
Navigating the loss of Matteo has been the most difficult journey my wife and I have ever faced. In the midst of our deepest grief, Bears of Hope has been a source of comfort, connection, and understanding. Knowing that we are not alone, and that others truly understand this heartbreak, has brought a glimmer of light during our darkest days.
This winter, I'm growing a beard for a cause that means so much to us, supporting families impacted by pregnancy and infant loss through Bears of Hope Pregnancy and Infant Loss Support.
Since 2006, Bears of Hope has walked alongside families across Australia during some of the most devastating moments of their lives. They provide ongoing comfort, fee-free counselling, and a compassionate community for parents grieving the loss of a baby during pregnancy, birth, or infancy.

Bears Of Hope Pregnancy & Infant Loss Support is an Australian not-for-profit organisation, providing leading support and exceptional care for families who experience the loss of their baby.
We provide exclusive and invaluable support programs that include a credible foundation of parent led and psychologist facilitated support groups, private online peer to peer support communities, phone, face to face, online and email counselling and annual community events that remember individual baby’s and recognize their parents love. Bears Of Hope comfort, acknowledge, inform, empower, and guide families during their time of loss and beyond.
As a registered non-profit organisation we are dedicated to the care of others and reinvesting our finances and resources to ensure the mental health needs and wellbeing of parents are being met and embraced for as long as as required.
